The post-election reconciliation plan of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) did not take off on Thursday. Aggrieved governors boycotted a meeting with Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and other party leaders under the banner of the G5 because they were upset with the outcome of the election.

Atiku had expressed sadness over the PDP’s decline and called for changes to be made so that it may once again become Nigeria’s and Africa’s dominant political party.

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo expressed concern over the fractious atmosphere in the PDP’s Kaduna State chapter. Sambo pleaded with the country’s top officials to intervene before the situation got out of hand.

The acting PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, has called on the newly elected governors to emulate the success of current PDP governors.

In addition, former governors Olusegun Mimiko, Ayo Fayose and Ibrahim Dankwabo were present at the meeting.
