Jacob Collier's impromptu live session in Bristol, June 4th 2022.

First show back in the UK tour and there was a power cut before starting, so Jacob and his crew set up outside the tour bus at the front of the 02 Academy Venue.

Thankyou for all your effort Jacob Collier and crew to keep the show going until we could go back inside!

Jacob is not a touring artist, he's a touring composer. The genius of tuning and warming up the audience before he begins lets them know that they will be heavily involved in the performance. The reasons for doing this is also beautiful. He often teaches that there is no wrong note, just a lack of confidence and commitment to the emotion you wish to portray. Not everyone in the crowd was on the same note when they were singing, but most people have the ability to pitch correct to some degree when singing with a crowd. The result is technically this massive chord that really shouldn't sound good based on music theory rules, but it does. He's showing that anyone can do what he does with the right conviction, and that is an amazing message shown through actions rather than words.

Once in a hundred years a musician is born with this innate understanding of the bridge between music and the human soul. Jacob- you give us hope for all of humanity. What a gift!

We were walking back from the Indian restaurant just up the road and see everyone outside the O2, wondering what'd happened, with the fire engine and all. Then we just see this (well, bits of it from a distance). Incredible.

A being of light. Like we all are. But he is clearly shining.

As usual, this is the most tuned audience out of any artists!

Someone in the comments asked how Jacob could play so many different instruments, and one response was “I think the secret…is be a musician first. After that…instruments are just tools. He doesn't really ‘play’ any particular instrument. He plays ‘music’.” I think you can take it a step deeper than that. Jacob is a good musician because he’s a good human. By good, I don’t mean free of mistakes, we all make them. I mean that in every performance, interview, or video I see of him, he expresses the beauty he sees in everyone and all styles of music and resonates with it. He’s completely open, like a kid, full of joy and wonder and eagerness to learn. His music reflects his heart and is just a tool for connecting with people’s souls. When he plays for people, it’s not a speech but a conversation.

It's magical to see what can happen when you're entire fan base are music nerds. Oh, to have been there!

Those *magical* moments when Jacob turns literally EVERY crowd into a choir.

Jacob, YOU are a modern day troubador. Humanity is your choir. What a coincidence that your audience is populated with individuals who can carry a tune in a bucket. Carry on.

Be Well.

I really like how the sound engineer normally dealing with huge systems tries its best to get the most out of this little speaker.

I am Japanese, and Music KANJI 音楽 means people enjoy playing music in Japanese.

I saw him live in DC recently. The most talented human I have ever seen in person. I was smiling the whole time.

As someone who subscribed to Jacob very early on, it’s so awesome seeing him loved by others as much as I always did.

WOWOWOWOW he doesn't only play every instrument you can possibly think of, he also plays the audience. Just as well.

Normally I resent musicians that are better than me (which is most), but Jacob just transcends. Once in a lifetime talent, I'm just grateful he discovered it and is able to shine that light on the rest of us plebes.

Jacob Collier: knows how to play every instrument humanly possible
Also Jacob Collier: uses his audience as his primary instrument

Can honestly say, one of the best days of my life. Everyone in the crowd was so engaged and there was such beautiful voices coming from the people surrounding😭 the power in venue came back on after this but I honestly would have been content going home after this

Was there at the gig, they shut the venue and a few people went home. Those who skulked around for a bit was treated to this (and they got the power to work and we all went back inside after). Incredible guy and awesome to be part of the crowd! Like ecstacy for the ears when you're in the midst of so many talented singers with a Jacob at the helm!
