I hate how people are saying the cgi sucks, when practically the whole movie is giant monsters fighting destroying cities which takes loads of cgi and it’s not just some 25 minute short it’s a 2 hour movie so what do you expect? They would need to have a LOT of money to make the movie which has monsters fighting almost the whole time, have perfect cgi, and I know they have a good budget but it’s only 150 million which is a lot but not enough to make it look perfect, so stop complaining.

Just finished the movie and it was extremely.... fine. Definitely better than pretty much all the other movies in the series before it overall(especially when it comes the bad dialogue of the human characters in past movies ) but otherwise its a movie that's straight to the point to the point of almost feeling kind of shallow. Kong is definitely the star of the show, but it almost feels more like the season finale of a Kong/Godzilla TV show rather than some big rematch movie. The Scar King's entire development is basically just a monologue from one of the human characters, but his actual mannerisms and scenes give him the most personality of pretty much any character seen in this series. In fact, I'd say they made all of the monsters MUCH more expressive, to the point where it can kind of seem comical, but actually does give a clearer understanding of the mindset of the monsters. Rather than a bunch of giant predators, Kong is the scrappy, ingenuitive underdog hero, Godzilla is the hot tempered anti-hero, and the Scar King is the sly, brutal villain.

The action is fast paced but clear enough in it's execution that you are never left with whiplash from quick cuts, and while the ending definitely leaves the door open for sequels, it's just as definitive for the actual plot of the films that it doesn't feel like setup for some future film.

7/10 - An enjoyable, if not kind of shallow spectacle that feels like an episode of a Saturday morning cartoon that doesn't exist.

I dont understand, they are making giant monster movies and releasing them in anamorphic aspect ratio. Why cant they release in wider aspect ration that fits the screen ????
