I have had the exact opposite experience!! Wood and bamboo are my favorites; as long as I make sure my tension is tight at the start they don't slip out over time, whereas plastic always does for me. But I will say that I have been able to get much better tension since I started stitching in the ditch, which led me to press the non-adjustable hoop into the adjustable hoop (which let me pre-tighten the hoop way more).

Strips of cloth can be wraped around the wooden hoops so that the warping can be compensated and the cloth makes it gentle on the main piece of cloth

My husband recently replaced my bamboo hoops that I had been using since I was 16. As a sweet surprise, put some that I had picked out. So I got tension hoops, the plastic ones with the metal ring, and the wood ones. I should point out that I'm in my mid-thirties. So my bamboo hooks lasted a long time. They started separating bud, they were still holding tension, and I never had a problem with the enclosure. My sister buys really high end loops citing some of the same reasoning, but yet she still replaces hers every 2 years. I really think it has more to do with how rough you are on the loop. Over tightening will bend your enclosure, no matter how high end it is. Jabbing, at your fabric with extreme pressure will cause fabric to pop out.

I think bamboo hoops are fine for thicker fabrics. I like to sew cosplays and bamboo hoops are a great and cheap option for some simple embelishments. But i do agree that they are not suited for regular cross-stitching fabrics or larger scale motives (unless you are okay with moving a small hoop over bit by bit)

the best hoop is the one that works for your project….😊😊I metal hoops from the 50’s many times but switch to small plastic ones when I make french knots because in my mind, I can make them easier with a small hoop

I have metal hoops from my grandma. They work great

I have an wooden hoop and a few bamboo ones, the only thing I'm not a fan of from the bamboo ones is the screw needing 2 hands.
I don't like the fabric being so tight as you have it in your hoop so I don't need such pricy hoops.
Good to know the different options though, thank you for showing us.

My grandma would always get the bamboo ones, get annoyed, then have us get her the plastic ones

I just use whatever I grab first lol, sometimes it’s the 6inch plastic hoop which is like MAGIC for my tension. If I’m going to be on the same piece for weeks, I just use my scroll frame. I do embroidery for cosplay and handmade patches, so I’ve never worried about display pieces (but I do know how to finish them)

My favorite hoop I found once and was never able to find in store again. I think it was a clover plastic hoop that was technically made for punch needle work but it’s thick and heavy duty (feels good in my hands) and I never seem to lose tension

Ive got pretty plastic hoops. And I've also inherited some metal spring ones and wood ones with cork inside

Do embroiderers ever use Q Snaps? I hated hoops but love Q Snaps for cross stitch because they give good tension that’s adjustable & don’t wrinkle fabric.

Would the beechwood hoop be best for punch needle as well? I guess I need to find some new hoops 😂

this is probably controversial but i’m a seasoned cross stitcher and i don’t use hoops at all

I don't know where did you got wood ones that are so shitty! The only ones available where I live are less flimsy than the ones you showed here, less thin, and have no problems with tension whatsoever

You're supposed to wrap the bamboo hoop before using.
They are sturdy and grip perfectly.

You shouldn't review things that you're not using properly.

Acting like this is a real review just to end with an ad is so lame and cheap 👎
