I find it so encouraging that God included real life, flesh and blood sinners in his word. Abraham lied, Noah got drunk, David committed adultery, and the list goes on and on. And so why are they in the Bible? It's so that we can learn from their wrongdoings and see that God consistently uses broken people.

The truth is, sin has consequences. Take King David for example. He was a great leader and a good man in many ways. But over the years he became complacent. Instead of carrying out the responsibilities bestowed on him, he fell into immorality. And so consider the tragic consequences of his sin. Not only did the child born from this union die, but David was forced to lie, commit murder, all in a vain attempt to cover it up.

Furthermore, his influence for good was lost, and his latter years as king were marked by rebellion and tragedy. God has so many examples and things to teach us from those who came before us. But the most important thing that these stories do is they point us to christ our only savior and redeemer Because he alone can forgive us and set us free from the bondage of our sin And put us on the right path
