I'm not sure I have seen a "modular" starter house video yet. Like, in normal gameplay, you would probably start off with the bare minimum to conserve resources, two stacks of wood planks MAXIMUM. But later, as you go through the game and get better equipment, you expand your base off to the sides.
With this video for example, the base of the house isn't an actual house, it's a wheat farm, meaning that you have to build your house on stilts in the early game to actually have a functional shelter for *you.*
I'm not saying it's a bad house or anything, it's a pretty good shelter if you already have iron / diamond tools, like when you are building a second base far away from your first base. But when you have stone tools and less than 5 minutes to throw something together... Yeah.

Yiu can replace the glass in the bottom with Fences. enough light, no mobs, still looks nice, made of wood

If there is a way, maybe I could show you a build I made myself. It has everything you need. There's even a bit of an underground area to the base for storage, potions, a nether portal, and anything else you choose to put in it.
