🤔 What is kidney stone (Renal Stones)?

A kidney stone (also called renal calculus, nephrolithiasis) is a hard deposit made of minerals and salts that form inside the kidneys. Kidney stones vary in size. Most kidney stones are small enough to pass through the urinary tract without causing any
problems. However, larger kidney stones can get stuck in the ureter, the tube that connects
the kidney to the bladder. This can block the flow of urine and cause severe pain.

✅ What are the types of kidney stones?

👇 There are four main types of kidney stones:

🔷 Calcium oxalate stones: They are formed when calcium combines with oxalate or phosphate in the urine. Oxalate is a substance found in many foods, such as nuts, seeds, vegetables, and fruits.
🔷 Struvite stones: These stones form in response to a urinary tract infection.
🔷 Uric acid stones: These stones form when uric acid levels in the urine are high. Uric acid is a waste product that is formed when the body breaks down proteins.
🔷 Cystine stones: They are formed in people with a genetic disorder called cystinuria, which causes the kidneys to excrete too much of the amino acid cystine in the urine.
