I've had a Camp Chef FTG475 for a while and I've noticed some of the cons you've mentioned. Regarding the grease trap. What I've done with the hole for the grease trap was to drill it out a bit to make it more functional. If you are going to do this, be careful not to make the hole too big because of the risk of some of the grease not reaching the grease tray.

I discovered the side shelf heat issue the first time I used the FTG and melted an oil squirt bottle. 🤦‍♂️ From then on, I've used a metal side table. What I do use the side shelf for is to keep food warm. I have a small wire rack to keep cooked items like toasted buns or bacon warm. To catch any grease or other debris under the wire rack I use some tin foil.

Recently bought the Sam's Club 4 burner griddle. I am anxious to apply all of the knowledge I have acquired from watching your videos. Thank you very much for your amazing videos! I’ve had the little Camp Chef oven/two top burners for years and love it. At the camp site, people have stopped to take pictures of it. Now, I just purchased the Camp Chef Pro90 three burner unit and the optional full length griddle. I’ve never used one of these so your tips were extremely helpful, especially watch for the high heat and clean as you go. Yesterday, I cooked burgers for thirty people at our rowing club barbecue and this thing was amazing! It was amazing because of your tips. I may have the job as club cook now!😄 Thanks again for an amazing job and I look forward to viewing all of your videos. Gary.
