I had to miss this match, I was on a plane to Spain.. for a 2 week holiday. Got to watch a replay on Monday night in a bar in Salou. Brilliant.

Such a shame how Carroll’s career ended up. Look how integral he was to our play. Scored a hat trick and played a massive part in the first two goals too.

And selling Carroll to liverpool, although it turned out to be a fantastic piece of business, at the time I was 16 and absolutely devastated he left.
But there was some great characters in the team (Barton, Nolan, Colo, Jonas etc) and there was some amazing matches/memories, this match against villa, the 5-1 against the Mackems, 1-0 away at the Emirates, 3-1 against Liverpool, and the comeback against Arsenal.
