Barako definitely feels like the chief and follows some sort of sun god, whilst Umvuthi is more like the god they were worshipping

Both look great Barako is a bit nostalgic because I’ve seen him longer but Umvuthi design is incredible

Barako is like: "huh where is everybody?"

I prefer Barako and the Barakas. They seemed to have bit more personality and I prefer the more brutish chief vibe that he has. Although, the bird definitely has smoother animations

The Barako was definitely more memorable, being a fat yet powerful tribal leader with a face made of gold, you can’t forget a design like that.

Umvuthi looks cool though, and the design more directly shows their connection to the sun, so I’m not complaining.

Barako will always be remembered.

4:01 the way he turned around, "if you weren't in creative mode...."

Umvuthi‘s animations were better, but both were really good

I want barako back because i want them to compete each other for dominance on the sun.

The belly smacking for Umvuthi seems a redundant, it makes sense for Barack since his thing is that he is fat and dosent get up but idk why the bird is obese

I prefer Barakoa just because I think that he is more like good old classic and he just fits the mod a lot. And I think it's really stupid how the mod was reported for racism just because of the masks. Even though I think that devs made a great job with a new design especially with animations

Umvuti just seem more terrifying and less friendly and also less expressive, Barakoa can be bro with me

Sunbird is cool, but Barako was absolutely comical, fits the goofier side of Minecraft way better than the bird, which would fit in betyer with the more serious aspects...

Barako is just way better in terms of sound design, you could actually hear how strong he is, especially with the shockwave.

It’s a shame Barako and his tribe got replaced due to racism allegations… I hope the mod’s team lets him return some day, maybe in a new form, seeking to take revenge on the usurpers…

Imagine: Barako, the dethroned king of silver; wearing a mask of the same metal alongside his tribe’s remnants in honor of their new moon god, who adopted them when the sun god turned their back on them. This new tribe is locked in perpetual war with the sunbirds, and will attack them on full moon nights. The player could be able to side with either, shifting the balance of day and night, and gaining buffs at different times, or resizing these 2 halves so that days or nights become longer, until one of the bosses is felled, and the world enters eternal light or darkness

I think overall, Umvuthi and his Abavuthana (still getting a hang of using the pluralization, so I could be misspelling that) are better in terms of design, concept, animations, etc... I think the one thing Barako and the Barakoa have over their avian replacements is personality.

The only thing that I dont like about the Umvuthi and Abavuthana is the lack of goofy sounds (but everything else its better than the barako and barakoa).

barako will forever hold a special place in my heart, but i can't deny that umvuthi is a straight-up upgrade

i still think having a human-like character that isn't a steve re-skin is more fun than another monster

I get art is subjective and all, but I will NEVER understand how people saw the comical, stylized, and goblinoid designs of the barakoas as "racist". It's also baffling how little people can't recognize the clear difference between mythological inspired creatures and racial stereotypes. Like some of these people really need to be educated on racism if they think living masks posing as goblins in a tribal setting "represents" any racist stereotypes.
