About the HOPE Series:
Created in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, this free, online series supports the resilience of our global community through social emotional arts. In accordance with our mission, with this series we aim to enhance the innate social-emotional benefits of the arts with supportive practices, such as non-judgmental language and reflection, for self-discovery, connection, and empowerment.

About the Session:
Find yourself caught in a cycle of writing endless to-do lists? In this online session, we’ll examine list making as a way to engage in mindfulness and self-care, where the goal becomes how present and gracious we can be with ourselves rather than how many checkboxes we can tick off in a given day. The strategies implemented will be useful across the many diverse populations and contexts we find ourselves working in, and we’ll come away with new insight into how we examine our own productivity.

Materials:
Journal, notebook, or several sheets of paper
Pens, colored pencils, and/or markers

About the Instructor:
Asia Moore, MSW, MA, PhD(c), is a multicultural story-warrior who believes telling and sharing stories has the power to change the world, one person, one place, one program at a time. From her background as an expressive arts therapist and clinical social worker with expertise in trauma-informed care to her current doctoral studies in positive developmental psychology and evaluation, you can find Asia in the gaps, cracks, and shadows looking for ways to uplift the voices being personally and systemically silenced. In Asia you will find a passionate co-conspirator ready to help and to listen, a creative problem-solver who sees opportunities where others see obstacles, and a practical optimist dedicated to seeing and celebrating the strengths and beauty in the communities up against the most challenging of circumstances.

This series is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture.
