A differential equation, but this time with nonconstant coefficients! Undetermined coefficients won't work on this one, so it's time for another way.

15:10 is the best thing ever. For some reason I just love how you turn back and forth between the two sides of your board. It's artistic.

You make everything clear. Thank you dear prof.

I love solving ODEs by power series, and tbh thats what I would've tried first on the right hand equation.

I would love it if you do a couple of videos on solving via power series, frobenius method and so on.

Great video, anyway. Love your channel

Took diff eq 5 years ago. Now its coming back in grad school hidden casually within a bigger problem

How to solve the following differential equation?
x^2*y''(x) - x*y'(x) - 3*y(x)=0

Using the Laplace Transform I end up with : -s^2*Y''(s) - 5s*Y'(s) - 5s*Y(s) = 0 which is of the exact same difficulty and can't be solved. What am I supposed to do to solve this monstrosity?

So if i have ODE with n-order, when i use this laplace transform, would it becomes (n-1)-order? I mean, does the laplace transform reduce n order ODE to (n-1) order ODE?
