I’ve always been a Jotul person (I’m in Scotland, so quite close to Norway) but Vermont are an excellent stove, and very well finished, in enamel paints, and I know the Americans, like the Norwegians make high quality goods. Sadly no dealers anywhere near me, 👍

Bought this stove for my cabin a couple of months ago. The handle for the door has already broken and I really hate that you can't adjust the damper yourself. Looking at using the air intake soon.

I just bought a house with a Vermont Castings Aspen C3 stove and it does NOT vent. The minute I close the door it stops burning and smokes up. It appears to be new and I cannot find anyone in my area to come and look and tell me why it is not working. Frustrating! I live in Dallas, Oregon.

Can the Fresh Air intake be vented from the outside if the unit is next to an exterior wall ?

So if you get a cold snap you can't manually open the vent for a bigger fire?

I’m trying to figure out what is wrong with mine. I used it all the time last winter and had no problems. Always cleaned it after using it. Went to try starting a fire last week and it wouldn’t vent. I lit a few pieces of paper and closed the door but the fire went out and there was smoke coming out and setting off my smoke alarm. I have no clue why it’s not working. Any suggestions?

Similar experience - since you have no control, you are at the mercy of their intake system. I have fresh air intake installed and a vent with no bends. It doesn't get more straightforward.

While I've worked out how to get it to burn OK (not great), the design pushes smoke to the front of the stove. When you open the door, and there is any smoke, it is coming into your room. This mostly happens as you get a fire going. Once you have it hot, the smoke is not as much of an issue.

The exhaust design is a head scratcher. If I had a mulligan, I'd get one with some control of the air flow and exhaust near the vent.

After the dealer struck out getting some guidance, I sent the CEO a note for any guidance/assistance. Crickets. I'd recommend an alternative unfortunately.

This is what happens when someone from the EPA that never lit a fire dictates stove requirements :).

I would like to know if the Aspen C3 requires as much maintenance as the Encore. This is the deciding factor in purchasing.

Automatic damper hidden in the stove, another thing to go wrong and no way to know it?

Stove does look appealing. The art on the side not so much. I am looking a Jotul black bear 118. New one left over before epa. I like the looks of this stove other than the art on the side

This stove has a back vent that poors smoke into your home if the wood isnt perfectly dry -- not a realistic design. I am very disappointed in this stove.

Automatic? No thanks. Everyone knows anything automated means more problematic. Is this part of the EPA bs?

There’s a saying, if it isn’t broken then don’t try to fix it. Old stove designs worked perfectly.

I think if this paticular stove was much larger and took 24 inch logs . It would be my perfect wood stove.
