for all those that have never heard this story, walk with me for a minute and let me fill you in on this little diddy :). in the 80's the police (stings band) were crushing it in the stadiums through the uk and europe but they had made no waves in the USA.. none. When they got over to the US the first night they were booked into a cruddy bar with like 15 people who were just there to drink and couldn't care less about music. Sting went and spoke to the manager and asked what was going on and he said there was no bigger audience because they weren't selling in the US so they had to do a string of small cruddy venues. Instead of getting madly incensed explaining what huge stars they were and that they wouldn't accept it (possibly heading back home) the band said okay, 15 people is what we have, 15 people is what we play for.... and each dog sh1t gig they played, they treated it like they were playing to 10 thousand people and gave it every ounce of energy they had. In a couple of months you couldn't get tickets to go see them anywhere and within a short time after that it was stadiums all across the US and they were back to eclipsing pretty much ever other band out there. Moral of the story is there are no small crowds... if you're up, you're up... push it, don't stop!
