Why is Nier:Automata anime called “ver1.1a”?

The game director said and I quote “Nier: Automata was a story we created to be a game, so copying it as is wouldn’t make an interesting story for an anime,”

So the story will be different from the game but how different?

It's Ver1.1a just like other Nier Automata media. Like YoRHa stage play which is ver.1.2. do it's like ver1.1a 1.1 means another version of story and "a" for anime.

Is there any sense to play Nier: Automata after I’ve seen the anime? I thought it would be a spin off or a sequel.. Anime was solid but I think it’s a bit overrated because of the “fan service”
By the way please suggest me some good classic rpg games (like resident evil and metal gear) to play this summer, I’ve on’ly played csgo tf2 valorant and Fortnite for 3k hours
