Hello everyone. My name is Tushir Jain. I am a SEBI and NISM certified Research Analyst and Mutual Fund Distributor. Thank you for coming to my channel and watching my educational videos. I hope you liked this video.
This video is about Trailing commission and Upfront commission. Brief note about the content of the video :-
Earlier commission paid to distributor is on transaction or on % of AUM. But in October 2018, SEBI mandated all the mf houses to pay commission only on % of aum basis which is known as trailing commission. It is calculated on daily basis and paid on monthly or quarterly basis. Formula is
AUM x trailing commission rate p.a /365 days

Upfront commission- Upfronting is not allowed by SEBI now after October 2018 onwards, but as a special case, it is allowed for 3 years if a person does SIP of 3000 per month for 3 years, upfront is paid at 1% p.a. Formula- Investment amount x 1%p.a/365 days x previous month days.
