How serious is this issue?

Bengaluru is currently in grave crisis. And this shortage is because of depleting water resources including drying up of borewells. The IT capital of India is currently facing its worst water crisis ever as many people are unable to get celan drinking water. Abhi and Niyu talk about the current issues that Bengaluru is facing, highlighting a fact that this is a warning for all other cities and states to consider water conservation seriously.

The video covers some important aspects like how absence of proper planning led to water shortage, and how it further leads to man-made disaster like flooding during monsoons. India has been exporting water to other countries in the form of high intensive crops like Sugarcane and Rice and this is quite serious because the groundwater levels are declining.

As always Abhi and Niyu also discuss some innovative solutions which every household can implement and how government can implement policies like mandatory RAINWATER HARVESTING with the ultimate aim to conserve water. Because it is important for us to realize that water is a GIFT and we must conserve it together!

Bengaluru was once called the "city of lakes"...my father used to say that they were more than 1500+ lakes in bengaluru but because of overpopulation and ground water exploiting now bengaluru has ran out of water

I'm from Bengaluru, currently studying in Dharwad! Believe me bro, Bengaluru is about to touch 39 C and I'm sweltering here at just 34 C! I can't believe this is happening, may God save the city!

Few years ago I bought a small 25 rupees pipe that connects my RO with a bucket underneath used to collect the waste water. Since then we save at least 1-2 buckets of water on a daily basis that's over 600 buckets and thousands of litres of water every single year!
All of this just for Rs. 25, it's amazing how we can save our resources with the smallest gestures and cheapest of stuff. We only need the initiative and the mindset to save our resources ❤

This is true ... So that's why Mr. Sonam Wangchuk's theory makes sense... We are slowly digging out the pit for ourselves. No glacier no water

I am resident of Pune, and we are just 1-2 years from Bangaluru like situation, but the local bodies are blind folded and have accepted that they are not going to act until we reach our graves. The very necessary and urgent act is to have strict policies, with consequences. Today Pune is converting into concrete jungle, none of the builders are concerned about the issue is water table, nor the government. Making rain water harvesting mandatory is the first utmost important task. Secondly, creating artificial ponds throughout the city. And tree plantation are the requirement of the hour.

As bengaluru resident
People came for climate first
Second for safety
Third for livelewood
Forth destroyed forest for buildings development & more concreate roads
Fifth more borewells
Sixth wipped off 300+ lakh, ponds, even killed a river called Bengaluru:Vrishabhavathi, Arkavathi, Dakshina Pinakini, Chinnar, Suvarnamukhi,  Cauvery and Netravathi.
& bengaluru holds more population then neded

Bengaluru is nothing without water, river ponds,
Development my foot

I am from bengaluru and trust me when i say this, we have never seen a water shortage of this magnitude ever before
It is far more serious than what it is projected to be
Bengaluru has been on a decline the past few years with more and more people coming in from outside
Constructing huge buildings on lakebeds, rampant increase in pollution, deforestation this is completely a collective fault from the people and the government
we have already stopped washing our vehicles, and taking a bath has now become a luxury. Tankers are extremely expensive and come by once a week. So we have to ensure the water lasts for an entire week.
Sincere request to all bangaloreans and rest of India this is a serious serious warning sign from mother nature and if we dont judiciously use our resources and stop harming our environment forget our future generations even our present generations will cease to exist

I'm from BENGALURU but now live in England for 10 years.
I've seen water depleting in BENGALURU. Primary cause is greediness and not following building codes.
In England, homes are built with mandatory garden area that is 55% of the plot. No home is allowed to have borewell, only supply from water company is allowed. If there is no rain for 6 to 8 weeks, government will declare drought which means no watering in garden or washing vehicles.
None if this is followed in India. In a 60x40 plot, people build small apartment complex with 10 houses, where will the water come from? There were more than 80 lakes, but now less than 10!

It is good that this is happening in BENGALURU, let people suffer for few years. Only then people will wake up atleast now and start conserving water.
