Some years ago I made two very similar pulk sleds for a winter camping trip in Norway. I used bamboo for the poles which is also very durable and light. But all in all your construction looks a little more advanced esp. in the details.

Good Job I like to cross my poles for greater tracking

@wawhiker Thank you and others for posting your DIY. Got me thinking and wanting one rather than carrying a bigger backpack if possible. Actually in one of your videos I mentioned I was building a sled but for Chloe heh.

Good idea, now just need a pulk dog to pull. My wife said no to the attack Llamas. I used a trapper model when I trapped, heavy. Now with S.I.R. taken over by Cabelas all the good stuff is gone from catalogue.

Thanks for the post. I will look into that for my next build.

@steintanz Thanks for the kind words Tim.

@medicjimr Agree Jim! When I decided to go with 5' poles I was curious if the length would be enough when crossed, it is but does create a greater pull angle which *may* stress me out. Not sure yet but pulling the sled as I did in the video was very effortless. Next trip may include some random sled drops heh.

@Tossdart Funny you mentioned a pulk dog as my original idea was to build this for my dog but I could not find a stable small sled. Thanks for the comment!

@Ggreenvideos I hope so too! I cannot find any better sleds here, the shop I got this at was my fourth attempt! It does flex which is good but I hope it will not flex too much. The sled mentioned on pulksled.com is very good. I hope to find it at REI one day.

@Waldhandwerk You welcome! I need to catch up with your videos too :p

Thank you! I think 6'. Google pulk sled designs and you should come across information to help you calculate the length needed to avoid back-kicking your own sled.

@dragonflyhiker Do it! Hey how is the snow condition where you are out east?

@theluckyleprechaun Thank you and I encourage you to try!

@jca21 Less than $45 not including the $13 bag. I want to find a better sled in the near future.

@BCkayakcamper Hi! Thank you! Hope you do not mind that I did not contact you for this trip. It was a last minute decision; basically watch BC Lions win, pack and go.

Thank you! I want to build a sturdy sled for colder weather, I fear the plastic will not hold up to -15/20C weather.

@phr1sk37 Hey no worries at all! Last minute doesn't typically work well for me anyways...always gotta preplan and make sure it's okay with my wife ;)
