You can actually lick the white off the seeds before leaving them to ferment. It’s really sweet

My grandma used to grow them. The fruit is tasty. We would suck the flesh off the seeds and then dry the seeds and sell them off to factory to make chocolate.

I learned this at the museum of chocolate in Barcelona, Spain. In summary the Spanish stole the cacao from the Aztecs, shipped the cacao back to Spain and came up with the recipe for chocolate that the majority of the world eats today.
