Athletes dove into the Seine for the third time during the 2024 Paris Olympics as the swim portion of the mixed relay triathlon took place in the river on Monday, Aug. 5.
But two athletes who previously swam in the Seine fell ill amid ongoing concern about high levels of bacteria in the water. The pollution previously forced organizers to cancel training sessions and postpone the men’s swim by one day.

Gee, I wonder why NBC Sports hasn’t said anything about this or all the other problems the athletes have faced, like no A/C in the dorms or buses, insufficient food, displaying the wrong flags at medal ceremonies, etc. Perhaps afraid of losing broadcast rights to future Olympics?

And i thought floods in my country is filthy. Children from poor areas swim in it knowing there could be rat piss and garbage in the water but they rarely get sick. But this river in paris, is just plain swimming in a sewer

when I heard the Olympics was being held in Frace, my first thought was, "Dear God why? That place is so filthy, its like a 3rd world country."
I thought the food would be world class. But I am hearing it is the most disgusting food any of these athletes have EVER had.

NOT surprising at all. Have you ever been to Paris? My father took a business trip there 11 years ago and woah! It was the FILTHIEST city he had ever been to. He accidentally stepped on dog poo the very first day there. That's when he realized, a LOT of sidewalks had dog poo. Don't even get started on the subways. They are worse than a garbage dump. It's just dumb to swim in the Seine and even dumber to hold the freaking olympic swimming parts there.
