Bio Energy (Part 2)

This is Part 2 of the Bio Energy segment of the Sustainable Energy course at USF. This segment introduces the concept of biomass genesis via photosynthesis and discusses biomass conversion to standardized fuels via thermal and anaerobic processes. The segment compares ethanol production from corn and sugarcane, and it discusses biodiesel production from oil plants and algae. The EROI of these technologies is discussed as well as environmental impacts. Furthermore, feasibility of large scale biofuel use is considered.
