BENJAMIN PROUD HOUSE

This is a Colonial Revival / English Revival home built in 1932 for Benjamin F. Proud. Benjamin F. Proud was Treasurer and General Manager of New Bedford Rayon Company, which was established in 1928 to meet a growing demand for rayon fiber on the part of New England textile manufacturers. The company commenced operations in what had been the buildings of Manomet Mills in the North End (now Victoria Riverside).
