Did Brüning do the right thing? What do you think? Let us know down below!

The back-and-forth in the German government at this time is insane. If I understand the sequence of events:
1. Bruning tries to pass an economic bill
2. The bill is voted down
3. Bruning tries to get it passed anyway by Article 48 decree
4. The decree is voted down
5. Bruning tries to get the Reichstag dissolved

At what point does Bruning think maybe its time to re-consider his economic plans?

Reichstag: Resolusion fails!
Bruning: Article 48!
Reichstag: Article 48 fails!
Bruning: The Reichstag is disovled!
Me: This is a bit like losing a card game then kicking over the table.

The more I learn about this Hitler guy the less I care for him.

Oh, I get it. The reporter you talk to always on the phone is Tintin.

Love the voices for each news source. Really adds to content. Great show as usual.

Was Indy's phone call a "Tintin" reference?

I think this is the first time I've noticed the Political Indicator's amplifier info plate 🤣

Also, 99 Luftballoons and the price of fish. Well played.

the "genuine 1930s slang" tag was wonderful

One of my favourite topics in History was Weimar Germany and Hitler's rise to power. I've watched some documentaries and read books but this is on another level.

This series is so well produced and incredibly interesting. Keep up the good work and can't wait for more episodes!

I've been watching Indy since late 1914 / early 1915, and I have to say this is by far my favourite series because it puts YOU, the viewer, in the shoes of a regular German in the 1930's. It's also fascinating to see the differences and similarities between then and now.

Which of the folliwing events mark the (eventual) end of this series?

1)Hitler is sppointed as Chancellor, January 1933

2)Reichstag fire and Enabling Acts- Hitler gets dictatorial powers-Febuary/March 1933

3)Night of the Long Knives-Nazi purge of SA, and score settling, July 1934

4) Hindenburg dies; Hitler combines offices of President and Chancellor, takes titke of Leader(Fuhrer) August1934

Personally, i speculate that the last one is when the series will sunset.

Update: in response to the channel guys, that would be #2. Not for termination of the series, but the enabling acts allow for the 'free' press to be shut down. And the series will change format.

This video brings us into those perilous times of the 1930s, now grown distant from living memories, in a visual and informative way. When I was growing up in the 60s World War II and the 1930s weren't too distant in time because our parents experienced it and told us about it almost every day. It's important that we don't forget what happened in Germany in the 1930s, because if we are not vigilant in defending the Constitution we inherited, it can be eroded. Thank you for making this video to teach young people about the perils of the 1930s who would not have learned about it any other way.

4:41 I see that "99 luftballons". What foreshadowing by that old newspaper!

As I alternate between watching this and monitoring the situation in Syria, an inner Indy Neidell voice narrates for me the falls of Aleppo, Homs and Suwayda. Crazy to see history happening in real time like this.

Love the 'personalities' you guys adopt when you read the new. They really bring things to life. Awesome and keep it up.

I love this series, it's brilliant. It's such a simple yet genius idea, to explore the history of Weimar Germany from almost exclusively contemporary sources. I'm almost disappointed it starts in 1930 and not 1919.

Also, I'm pleading, put Mr. H into a Where's Wally shirt for the Where's Adolf section of the show, at least once.

That was a masterclass in making the dismal story of a calamity palatable. Thank you guys.

4:49 "99 Luftballons" on the front page. Clever, I love it.
