When it comes to looking after Fruit Trees, as you all may know, there is a lot of work involved. We all strive to harvest as much high-quality fruit as possible from every tree, but to harvest, you must first... prune! So where do you start?

This week Jannita and Shenae chat about some amazing products that will help you with pruning fruit trees. The girls will share some tips on how to look after your fruit tree and what you need to do before you plant your fruit tree.

When starting out pruning, you can be a bit daunted and worried by the task in
front of you. But if you remember the reasons for pruning, that is you are maintaining a tree to a height suitable for the environment in which it is growing and maintaining the health of the tree by allowing good sunlight and breeze penetration to the canopy, you will be on your way to success.

Arborlab Tree Care Pty Ltd is in the business of sourcing and supplying the world's best tree care products. The Silky Saw and Okatsune range are just that - some of the world's best pruning tools. Perfect for the arborist to perform tree cutting and tree pruning with ease. The Prabos range of boots adds the quality and safety that all arborists need. Once a week Jannita and Shenae share a video with tips and tricks about Silky Saws and the other incredible products we stock.

Lemon, apple and a plum. Also just a quick note for people who read the comments, I have experimented with vertical mulching over the years and if you don’t want to spend any money on chemicals and you want to go organic I’ve had great results with vertical mulching. ladies another well informed video ♥️ I did not know that much about pruning apple trees. ( i’m an arborist but I do not specialize in fruit trees) Great info thanks 👍🏼

In my homestead garden I grow :
1) Bush lemons. Every year we harvest 1000's of lemons. For good health eat a whole lemon every day.
2) Peaches
3) Grapes
4) Parsley, Rosemary, chalottes,
5) Onions, garlic
6) Cos Lettuce - large leafed cv.
7) Jap pumpkins

I use my SIlky Pocketboy Outback 170 every day along with a chain saw but soon I will purchase the Zubat 1.2m polesaw and the Zubat hand saw.
Wattle scrub is a never ending problem on vehicular and walking tracks where I live and work. Mostly 1cm to 5cm and usually alive.

Don't have much where I am at the moment. We have a couple of Grapefruit, rampant Golden Passionfruit, Paw-paw and Banana, and a monster Mulberry tree. There's some Rosemary growing wild in the old chook pen. Well, there was. Someone bought a couple of kid goats and they seemed to like the leaves. I have a bunch of seeds that need planting soon though.

I was just getting round to buying the Gomtaro Fine (previously Gomtaro Apple) as it's time to do the [boreal] winter prune on my fruit trees on dwarf stock.
One vendor said it's discontinued. I guess it wasn't a big seller.
What has it been superseded with? The Gomtaro Pro Sentei Fine?
If so are the Gomtaro handles all the same? Could one replace a Gomtaro Fine blade with a Gomtaro Pro Sensei blade?
I asked a bloke in the pub who is an Arb but with much figurative chest-beating he told me how big the chainsaws he used were. Oh very good. What a man! but that didn't help me with my small fruit trees.
Someone on a forum suggested a Zubat. Even the fine is less fine than the Gomtaro Fine. They are also curved blade. I don't have to work above my head or below, so a straight blade would ggive better control and be smoother in use.
Moreover, the plum trees I have are brittle and when I prune them in May (UK) when in full sap to avoid Silverleaf disease they're not going to take too kindly to the jitter of a curved blade with big teeth.
