Nike IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH about these football boots

We get so many new colorways from Nike these days, but despite their cosmetic differences, every colorway of the same football boots end up feeling and performing the same. Enter Cosmic Speed. Nike's fancy new PVD coated Mercurials, giving the boots a very unique and super flashy, color changing chrome finish! Not to mention, these limited edition colorways bare a $40 premium over a normal pair of top-end Mercurials.

There is one thing about them though. Despite listing GripKnit in the tech specs, and even putting the logo on the upper, the Cosmic Speed Mercurials DO NOT have a Grip Knit upper! Or at least they don't feel anywhere near as grippy as every other colorway. Why isn't Nike making this more clear? I'm honestly not sure, but if you were by chance looking to pick up any of the Cosmic Speed collection, you might want to know about these differences.

The orange one is so sexy, but I wouldn’t pay that price for a less grippy upper. Might as well get the regular color ways

I'd also say that the cosmic speed models have a tighter forefoot area since the band/strap that runs across actually prevents stretching of the upper over that area. It's something that I personally noticed quite a bit.

I think the regular colourways have better mean to buy than these cosmic speed cuz it has coatings and it kinda erases gripknit feeling for me😅

I got them as a collector's item because they look like older Vapors. Don't know if I will ever wear them (maybe on a really nice grass pitch). Somehow got them on sale from Unisport and got 25% off lol

Nike sucks for not telling us this. I got the first cosmic speed but sold it after realizing the grip knit is not there at all and the chrome on the upper falls off even just rubbing your fingers on it.

I mean, those colorways alone are enough for me to buy the boots, I am so fine with playing with the Vapor 14/Superfly 8 so grippy upper may not be the deal breaker for me but the new and improved soleplate and zoom cushioning.

i bought the superfly version and tbh i don't really mind the fact that there isn't the same stickiness tbh my favourite superflys have been the 5 and 7 and i feel like the soleplate going back to the chevron studs makes it feel and look better but i still don't find that same feeling as i did with the 5s after they were broken in my 5s are pretty much falling apart but i won't let them go at this point lol

For sure the gripknit is there for the sake of justifying the steeper price tag, because if you admittedly used regular flyknit, nobody would buy them because they'd be so much mlre expensive than the pro model with a flyknit upper.
I'm not completely against having a non sticky version though, so personally I think it'd be cool if we got like a special limited release with an atomknit upper on the elite soleplate, which in fairness would be just another glorified pro model, but at least it would be something different.

Was hoping for this review 2 weeks ago but since this were selling like hot cakes, had to get it. Just want to point out apart from not offering grip, the PVD makes the boot slightly stiffer than a regular mercurial and good thing is it doesn't get (or look) dirty as easily after sessions.
