Due to type juggling and conversion rules, basically what happens when you evaluate null in the Boolean context such as in this video, PHP converts it to Boolean value, and according to conversion rules, null is considered false, so is 0, 0.0, "", array() are considered false according to conversion rules. Instead of loose comparison operator (==) if you have used a strict comparison operator then it would have also checked type and in that case the result will be different.
