Sheik Hasina committed 2 mistakes that became detrimental not only to her and her father's legacy, but the entire country as a whole. While she will live off the remaining years of her life in relative comfort, the dark shadow of Bangladesh becoming a totally radicalized country with a poor econmy is a devastating reality. The two things she shouldn't have done are _
1) Give 30% job reservation to families of ' freedom fighters' ostensibly, which actually was just a cover to benefit her party people, at the cost of the huge unemployed people who may not have been either her supporters or belong to other political parties.

But, having done that, she committed another grave mistake_ the high handedness in dealing with the situation, unprecedented brutality in cracking down on the students resulting in many deaths, by using her stooges_ the police and party workers, especially the student wing of her party.

But then, when leaders become flush with power, they lose touch with reality, and the end of demagogues is bitter. And a poor country like Bangladesh will really have to struggle to overcome their economic woes and poverty levels.
