Eclipsed Stars AU Part 2 – The Sun and Moon Show Animatic

Welcome back! Or hello to any potential newcomers =D

I think this video has taken me the longest to make so far (started it sometime in August), and to be honest I don‘t like all the frames anymore, but hey, that‘s artistic progress =D

This video has also deviated a lot from its original storyboard, but I really like how it turned out!

There are also some differences to the Eclipsed Stars fic on Ao3, just as a heads up!

Omg there's so many little details, I could gush forever

First off, the way eclipse's eyes softened and the way he couldn't stop himself from smiling a little smile when he thought about gifting ruin back their hat? Amazing. And the tiny t i n y smidgeon of vulnerability he allows himself around earth? Beautiful. I love their friendship so much

And I love the contrast between how eclipse saw ruin in the beginning compared to how he saw them by the end. From jerking his arm away in disgust and distrust from just a little touch to full on cradling them as they died. Somewhere along the way, eclipse started to care for them, and it's so sweet and so so saaad waah

And, speaking of which, ruin?? Going from proposing this agreement out of only self preservation and self interest, but then falling completely and helplessly in love? The way they held eclipse with such a guarded, calculating gaze as they extended their hand in truce to the way they looked at eclipse when they got their hat back?? That is SO-!!! I'd imagine that's when this became more than a partnership for them. Sure the feelings were there before, but they were stifled, what with their fixation on destroying the creators and the idea that their feelings would never be reciprocated, what with eclipse having every reason to hate them and all. But then. THEN!!!

Which makes me wonder what went through their mind in as they laid there dying. With how cagey they were being about the star, they probably had ulterior motives to use it in their vendetta against the creators. And I'd imagine some part of them is angry and upset and screaming at themselves for being an idiot. But their mind was dulled by pain and their systems were failing, and that part of them is so far away and eclipse is right there, and!! The fact that they reached out and comforted eclipse when they were the one dying? The way were held so close to eclipse in what might be their final moments? I'd liked to think this is was the first time in a long 50+ years that they actually felt safe, and that despite all the regrets brewing in them, if they died like this, they'd be okay with it.

And GWAHH I could go on for so much longer but this is already long enough. I'll be spending the next few days rewatching and appreciating every frame. You really hit it out of the park with this one!
