Kelly Reilly Confirms What We All Suspected About Kevin Costner

"Yellowstone" is one of the most-watched shows on TV for a good reason. Part of that success has to do with its stellar cast, anchored by Kevin Costner.

As Dutton family patriarch John Dutton, Costner serves as the linchpin member of his on-screen family, as well as the cast of actors surrounding him, with the Academy Award-winner helping to set the tone on the set of the show.

According to his co-stars, the example he sets is a positive one, showing that his decades of fame and success haven't gone to his head. In an exclusive interview with Looper, Kelly Reilly confirms what we all suspected about Kevin Costner.

What's your favorite Kevin Costner movie/show?

Met him in '95 when he flew in to Japan to release Waterworld. Something wrong with clearance or whatever and his plane requested permission to divert to my Naval base just outside of Tokyo. In exchange for our hospitality, his team was going to give us the premier showing of the movie. His team went and looked at our theater which was basically a huge auditorium with crappy speakers in the front. This wasn't good enough, so his team went and bought a lot of speakers and had them placed all around the theater and up top on the balcony for the showing. He and his team gave us two showings each on Sat and Sun and during each showing they would pause the movie and Kevin would get up there on stage and talk to us for a few minutes. This was the first movie to have surround sound on our base and the speakers were a gift and are still there. There was a picture of Kevin and the manager at the time, Wes Soper hanging inside the lobby, but unfortunately it has been lost. The day Kevin and his crew left to return to the States, his assistant walked into our hangar and asked if we had any coffee cups they could buy and asked if we wanted to meet Kevin. There were about 5 of us standing there and we all went out to his plane and shook his hand and said hello. I've been a fan of his since dances with wolves and still am today. Regardless if his movies are good or not, I always think of the nice guy that took time to shake hands and talk to a bunch of us that were far away from home. Thank you Kevin.

The man is legend, I an a huge fan, I actually met him, we chatted for over an hour about the different characters he has portrayed, he listened to me ramble on, that hour was probably one of the biggest highlights of my life. Thank you Kevin.

His dad used to work at So Cal Edison and always telling everyone how his son was gonna be a big star someday, but everyone just said, yeah yeah and then he did.He puts his family in his films. When his dad retired, he was at his party at the hotel, there were also 3 proms going on and word got out he was there, this was early on and he went out to use the facilities and boy was he mobbed, he spent at least 2 hours signing autographs and taking pictures with the kids. It's nice to know he is still a nice guy.

20 years ago, my son had just been put into remission from APL Leukemia. He was invited by the Silver Lining Foundation to go to Colorado. One of the people working there was Mr. Costner's daughter. She invited the group of children who had battled cancer to her fathers house for a cookout. Mr. Costner cooked hotdogs and burgers for the kids. Not only is he a great actor. He is a great man, and a great father.

I worked the production for two USO shows that Kevin did, with his country band. They came up with a few last minute requirements, that were not identified in the band's technical rider, which we immediately got to work on and accomplished. As we finished these special requests he stopped the sound check and came over to thank the tech crew and shake each of our hands. This shows what a perfect gentleman he is, as we would never get that recognition from the majority of the other wannabe artist we also support. An allround nice person and a pleasure to work for.

I met him on the set of The Postman. Class act. We also visited the set several times and we were always treated very well. People were so welcoming. That comes from the top. He and Jim Wilson were both wonderful and professional . Glad to see a story that doesn’t tear someone down. All you have to do is watch his eulogy to Whitney Houston to know what kind of man he is. If you’ve never heard his story about being at the White House during the filming of JFK you have missed a gem. Try to find it. You won’t be disappointed .
