Canada smash Honduras 4-1 but Herdman urges that the CANMNT need higher level opponents

Canada are going to the CONCACAF Nations League semifinal against Panama and have already qualified for the Gold Cup. But Coach John Herdman is eager for the Canadians to play against tier 1 sides to help them improve.

I find it pretty hilarious that in one sentence we're hating on fans for not showing up and in the next we're claiming that these concacaf matches mean nothing. I, for one, thought the atmosphere was phenomenal considering this game was 1 - against Honduras, 2 - overpriced, 3 - in a relatively new comp which most of us don't even understand the importance of, 4 - not hyped, 5 - cold af, 6 - played at a low point in the history of the organization as far as public perception goes (CSA/CSB and all that jazz. Like seriously, we need to get a grip here and understand that 13.5K showed up to this overpriced, glorified scrim in the middle of the week and looked and sounded brilliant...at least from the perspective of a couch potato like myself. Sure, Canada as a nation needs to get with the times as a footballing fanbase but a lot of this lands on the media, who honestly need to get their sh*t together and start promoting the hell out of our players and tournaments like this. Until that happens consistently, soccer will always be on the fringes of our nation's collective sporting mindset.
