If you watch this in .25x speed you can see it's definitely not an early stoppage. He lost complete control of his body. His neck couldn't hold his head up at all and his ankles folded. Then even gets knocked out for another split second from the punch on his back . Falling “like a ton of bricks” after a head strike with no real attempt to break the fall especially face planting or having any portion of head striking the mat is a clear sign of a knockout. Recovery is not part of the decision to keep the fight going. Losing consciousness means the brain has already been injured and basically concussed. Any more strikes after this could be very damaging. As we saw in Gaethje vs Ferguson and Sean O'Malley vs Chris Mourinho some people just don't give up with superman mentality. Yet the fights were stopped to protect them from serious brain damage. Those saying it's an early stoppage care more for Islam's undefeated record rather than his health. Dude got knocked tf out.
