Показать описание
Google and Apple are fighting over dominance in the Indian Smartphone market.
See, historically, Google's focus in India was through its operating system Android, and this is where it had almost a total monopoly.
Here, Google mainly made money by selling ads through its ecosystem of apps like Search, Gmail and Maps, but there was a problem.
Most of the money that the company made was from the top-tier premium segment of users, but this is where Google now faces tough competition from another tech giant, Apple.
Apple’s market share in India is growing rapidly. It was less than 2% before the pandemic and has now reached 9%.
Now, Apple is winning because of various reasons like local manufacturing, smart distribution etc, and according to experts, Google’s biggest challenge is distribution.
And this is why, Google is now partnering with e-commerce companies like Flipkart and Amazon, to improve its distribution. Beyond this, it will also partner with online and offline channels like Reliance Retail and Croma.
