That moisture bleeder on the air tank ought to mounted at the bottom or it might develop moisture issues in the system as the water level raises in the air tank.

I’m not sure how ya would, but you may want to figure out how to re-mount your air tank so that blow off valve is facing down. The main point of that valve is to be able to open that tank while it’s under pressure and drain out any moisture and water that gather in there. Gravity can be your friend with a change in position.
Will hopefully help make your tank last longer and prevent any sort of freeze up issues. We use the same principle with semi’s. Looks great! Was looking into putting a set of train horns onto my pickup

On your wiring underneath use Dielectric grease on every connection to help maintain good connection corrosion free

Thanks for the overview and step by step installation walk thru. It has helped me understand the system.

You should have made 90 degree angle brackets to mount the tank, putting the "DRAIN VALVE" in the correct location...or by a tank with the DRAIN VALVE made for a 90 installation.

One of the best how to videos I've seen.

Bleed off / drain Valve mounted like that does nothing. Now you have water sitting below the bleeder / drain valve, essentially pitting, and rusting the tank. The upside is when it explodes, only your passengers legs will be blown off if it penetrates the sheet metal on the cab.

Up to Min 3:32, the bleed off valve is supposed to be in the bottom to drain. You may want to use an L bracket.

If you connect the horn to your own horn cables you could use them together.

13:41 They might sound like a 2011-2020 Dodge Grand Caravan Horn. Very interesting.

Do you have a link to the airmax tank?

What did you do about water in the tank with the bleed off valve on the side ? You won’t be able to get all the water out the tank and it will rust ?

Hi There,

Great video showing the full installation... I am in the middle of doing the same setup. my only question is in regards to the compressor on/off switch. Did the load wire from the switch go into 86 on the relay? or how did you go about that switch.. The Solenoid load wire was a no brainer from the switch lol... But just making sure I have this right for the manual switch for the compressor on/off.

The bleed valve is supposed to face down all the moisture some will remain in the tank.

Maybe I didn’t understand… But is that bleeder not at the lowest point? Cause it’s purpose is to empty the water from the tank, if need be.

Just to calm everyone down about the drain... at the time we didnt realize the importance of this. thanks to everyone on the internet we now know lol ... Also the truck was sold shortly after this video and the tank, horns, wiring were all removed.

It's not a "bleed-off", it's a drain valve for accumulated moisture in the tank. It's not a "piece of wiring", it's a relay. You know enough to be dangerous.

That's not a bleed off valve. That's a drain for water in the tank. Condensation forms inside the tank. It's what causes most air tanks to rust out!

I liked your video. I thought you filmed it well and the lighting was great and a simple explanation of how you did it. But my question to you is, did you look at different makers of train horns and compressors? And my second question would be how much cash did you put into this project? Thanks!
