Here's how to fix broken dethatcher tines after they wear out...

I've owned the Greenworks dethatcher 3 or 4 seasons now and the tines have become worn out or broken in some cases. These tines aren't extremely tough but they have done the job for me and worked well since I have owned the machine. Today I show you how to swap these out for new tines and the process for completing that job.

Always nice when you take advice from someone, buy what they endorsed, AND they teach you how to maintain it! Thanks for the video!

I've done this a few times on my 10 year old Greenworks dethatcher. Great winter project.

I have done it only once in the 4 years I have used it. It is definitely time to do again. It makes such a difference with the new ones installed. You forget how well it really works until you replace them. I think this might have been one of your shortest videos I have seen lol :)

Bought one of these early in the spring and I've been very pleased with it. Wouldn't recommend it for really deep thatch but for your average residential lawn it works really well. Well worth the price imo

I bought one last year on Amazon and the micro switch inside was installed incorrectly, Amazon sent me a brand new unit so I have twice the tines and twice the replacement tines. Great video Ryan.

Sweet. I bought one of those a couple of weeks ago to prep my yard for your sissy grass seed. It did a pretty good job and the tines still look alright. I decided I'm going to kill the front yard towards the beginging of June. That will give me a chance to spray it a couple times, thatch it a couple times and start leveling. I pre ordered your leveler and I know it will be here by then. By mid July everything should be ready for seed and peat moss. I plan on adding your 80/20 blue / rye next Spring. I want to have all sissy grass just once before mixing in anything just to see it.

I got one of those last fall, on sale and in that case if you use it twice you have paid for a 1 day rental

Does it say anything that I broke a Dethatcher before I had to replace tines? Thank you for this how-to!

Ryan, do the tines breach the surface at all like the scarifier or do you keep it somewhere around 0 to 5mm above the soil level?
