How to Connect Your ASUS Router to NordVPN

2) Click on ‘Show available protocols’ under the suggested server
3) Download both the OpenVPN UDP and TCP configuration files
4) Log in to the Control Panel of your ASUS router by entering your Default Gateway IP address (usually 192.168.1.1)
5) Enter your username and password (if you haven’t changed your router’s settings, they will both be “admin”)
6) Go to VPN Configuration in the Advanced Settings menu
7) Click on the VPN client tab, select Add Profile, and open the OpenVPN tab
8) Fill in the name of the connection and your NordVPN credentials
9) Click Choose File, select the downloaded UDP or TCP configuration file, and press Upload
10) In the VPN Client tab, click Activate on the created connection to link your router with NordVPN

If you did everything correctly, you should see a blue checkmark in the Connection Status column. Success — you’re now connected to NordVPN!

To disconnect, simply click on the Deactivate button next to the configuration. Keep in mind that you can only have one OpenVPN connection — if you want to set up another, you’ll have to remove or edit the existing one.

I just want to point out that the latest Asus ZenWifi doesn't use "VPN Client"-name anymore, it uses "VPN Fusion". The UI is a little different but I think with these instructions you can still manage. I think the most important toggle switch was "Apply for all devices".

This video is out of date. When you open the "/servers/" page from the video, DO NOT SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM! Simply click on the "Recommended Server" button at the top of the page (in the jumbotron below the navigation bar). The whole page looks like an advertisement to buy NordVPN. I had to login and reload the "/servers/" page several times before realizing what I was doing wrong. SMH. Please update.

When I set the VPN on my asus RT-AC86U I get really poor download speeds 1.5mb/s compared to using the windows app 22mb/s using the same server.

Yes it works on a smart TV as long as you can install the app on the TV, it will work. BUY a SONY Bravia smart TV only!

Wait, so I have to download every country in two protocols and configurate them and log in to my router and switch between countries everytime I want to change country? I just bought a ASUS router for 400 EUR and a NordVPN subscription to be able to stream movies and series from all around the world and easy cast them to chromecast. I'm sure I have misunderstood something because if this is the case then I don't see the purpose of NordVPN and of course demand a refund.

I have an ASUS RT-AX88U and these instructions do not apply to me. After selecting 'VPN' in the left-hand column, there is no 'VPN Client' tab at the top of the page.

I had to restore to factory defaults my ASUS router. I tried redoing setting up the VPN on my router but when I go to connect Authentication fails and I get the X vs the checkmark. How do I fix this?
