SCP-650 | Startling Statue (SCP Orientation)

Today we will be studying Item number SCP-650: Startling Statue, Object class: Euclid.


SCP-650 is a black statue of a stylized humanoid 167cm tall. The statue does not possess hands or facial features: the limbs taper off into rounded points and the head is a smooth surface all around. The default posture while under observation has the statue reaching upwards, head tilted as if facing the sky.

If the statue is not being observed, it will relocate itself to a point immediately behind whomever is in the containment site and assume a threatening posture. No noise is made during this relocation process. The relocation point and posture are typically close enough to induce an automatic fight-or-flight response in the observer once they turn around and see it.

I believe there was a story about this scp giving a researcher a heart attack that ended up killing them, the scp then seemed to mourn them and not act normally for a while.

Ah 650, aka the Startling Statue which basically a less lethal counterpart to 173. Granted it's also hinted to be a bit of a jerk/asshole since unlike 173, 650 seems to be more sapient and actively wants to scare the hell out of you. Of course, with the alternative being having your necked snapped, being scared is the far more appealing choice.
