Solar panel do NOT need to be visible to the systems star to generate power, they will work even if buried.

Some additional tips:
1. Follow the tutorial/story quests, they will unlock tons of stuff that you would have to pay for otherwise.
2. Exosuit inventory can be upgraded twice in every system. At the space station there is a "tube" next to the exosuit upgrade vendor where you can buy another inventory slot. This is also possible at the anomaly. You can choose which type of slot (cargo or tech) you'll buy by clicking in the correspondant inventory first.

Unique tip for nanites.
When you find a curious deposit of Runaway mould, setup a base teleporter nearby for easy access. Visit often and you can farm the deposits over and over again as they respawn regularly.
Refine it to nanites.

Side note on the tech bonus; you can also daisy chain the upgrades allowing more flexibility in how you use the space available to you. There are in depth charts on different websites showing how to maximize your layout for those who are interested. Anyway, for new players, you're not limited to a tech bonus in only the four adjacent slots of the original tech. Keep adding, just make sure you continue to share edges with other upgrades 🤘🏻💪🏻🔥

With your multitool you should move your yellow scanner that is next to the visor over next to the scanner upgrade that is supercharged to improve the scanner adjacent bonus.
