The fact that Mark is still willing to argue with Simon is why I love these reviews so much. He really cares about movies! This sounds great, and I will definitely be watching it.

From the trailer I thought this was going to be an 18. Shocked it wasn’t, a real pushing the boundaries of it’s 15 rating.

The Talented Mr Ripley x Brideshead Revisited x Absolutely Fabulous.

This fitted my admittedly weird taste. I love inky black comedy but many in the sparse audience literally ran out of the theatre giggling embarrassedly during the graveyard scene. I loved that! I couldn’t help thinking of the Ealing classic “Kind Hearts and Coronets.”

I loved this film. The final act of it didn’t quite live up to what came before it but it was excellent. Great soundtrack. Loved the shots and how stylised elements of it was…

Like Simon, I've had my fill of stately homes, but there was one film from a couple of years ago that almost made me want to see _more_ stately homes if they can be a setting for compelling movies, and that was the surprisingly undervalued _All My Friends Hate Me_ .

The most fun I've had in the cinema all year. An absolute riot - sexy, funny, OTT, with a killer soundtrack. Fennel is waging an assault on subtlety and it's glorious to behold.

Great review. It's like watching the old 'theatre' men from the muppets. Just perfect.

Barry gave such a heartbreaking performance in The Banshees of Iniishren. I yearn to see more of him.

Excellent Review
I am from Liverpool and just watched Saltburn and at first thought is that a Liverpool accent with a bit of Manchester thrown in but then when I found out he is from Prescot Merseyside I understood. Prescot it’s on the border of Liverpool - St Helens so yes weird accent.
As for the movie I loved it and can see the Vampire theme and I don’t mean “That scene” but the Vampire Symbolism hint and its meaning running through the movie. Loved the lower class plaything for the upper class and then Bang turn the tables.

Mad mad movie. Dark. Weird. Gross. Awkward. Twisty. And a fantastic lead performance. Brilliant soundtrack and cinematography too.

I thought Barry Keoghan performance was sublime. Just could watch him all day. When the woman in the film says "I know why he likes you so much. It is because you are real." I agree.

Took great delight in watching people squirm their way through this movie

I was so into the movie I didn’t see the characters as being evil, they just were. Just get soaked into the film and the cast will take you through

1:50 - Do you think he actually read the 50 books? This seems like the biggest red herring in the film as we never see him study, or submit an essay or get an exam grade ever in order to verify his acumen.

The last act didn't work but the ride along the way was fun.

I didn’t love the movie, but everyone in it is honestly a vampire. Characters such as Felix and Farleigh make it crystal clear that they have a lifestyle in the estate that they wouldn’t want to lose, and respond to Oliver accordingly as he comes to threaten their way of life.
