2 Years with a Modded Nintendo Switch - Worth It?

Over the past two years my interest in the Switch has come and gone, and come back plenty of times. Currently with the great games coming out this holiday season for it, I'm very excited about the console and have been playing it quite a bit.

The combination of the Switchs great games in addition to the many retroarch cores a modded Switch can use make handheld and console hybrid a perfect piece of gaming history. However if you strictly want a box to play retro games, the Xbox Series S is the way to go if you are buying something new off the shelf.

Thanks dude for the real input. I was actually pondering on either to buy switch/ps3/ps4 modded or not modded. Rare to have these discussions

I have modded almost every console thats moddable, I can actually tell you if its worth it or not, its a double sided coin, on one side theres the fact that you can get games for free on it, you can get any emulator you want for it and its enjoyable to do, but on the opposite side it ruins the value of said games you pirate, the emulators aren't very good because why would anyone play a snes or n64 game on a switch when you can play actual switch games, eventually you just want the original hardware, another thing is that when you're pirating games it devalues them, you don't value them as much because you got them for free, don't want to play them as much because you can just horde games until you run out of space so you don't care about the games properly, when you actually buy a game you own it to some degree and can hold it and you value it because it cost you something, I'd say its up to you but there are negatives none of these videos ever mention, oh and theres NO ONLINE at all with the pirated games for any console and any console you hack you can usually not play online with unless its a ps vita or you use some sketchy workarounds that don't always work and theres still risk

i love my modded switch, i have had it for 1 year and still play online on my stock side of the console. it is great that i have a 2 in 1 console which can play my backup games and also online still. i went into it for themes and then fell down the rabbit whole and found it all. i use lakka to play gamecube games but can be hit and miss twilight princess and windwaker play pretty well with overclocking. i also use citra on my switch now for 3ds games and same it can be hit and miss

Been thinking about modding my Switch, but have been hesitant given I have a modded PS VITA that basically emulates everything I need to play already. I like the idea of backing up my physical media, and I also am intrigued by playing with Lakka on the device. Thanks for your perspective.

Love my modded switch. But I only play current games. Not even bothering with the retro stuff. There are a tone of better options to playing older games. For those, I just play them on my phone with my Razr controller. And can plug in a hdmi cord if I want to play them on my TV.

Modded ps vita is still favorite handheld and prefer way to play PS1 and PSP games. You can overclock the new 3ds in order run pokemon games at higher framerate.

I got my first switch in May 2017. I would have gotten it at launch but they were sold out everywhere until then. I was considering modding it at one point recently, but there are more problems than benefits for me because most of my games I have are physical

I feel like having a modded switch you can check out the games before you decide to actually buy the game for online usage or just to own it like is it worth it? That’s what I do

Its actually possible to mod v2 switches but you need to like actually unscrew it and install hardware and chips and stuff

I was lucky enough to get mine for $100 (haven't cracked it yet but it has a low serial number in the right area) is it worth jailbreaking it? Mostly what I'm worried about is that Nintendo won't fix my joy cons for free lol

I got a moddable switch when the switch came out on Christmas an finally after nearly 5 years I'm going to mod it well tomorrow but still
I have done everything to stop myself being banned like changing my DNS thing to the ones that blocks Nintendo
I have modded the sd card I bought I'm just waiting for the rcm jig to arrive :)

I just want to ask. Do you own multiple switches as in one for mods and the other one for legit or do you just own a V1 purely for modding?

Is it possible to swap between using CFW and the original OS for online play?

People say the emulation on switch is great but every video I see it’s dropping frame on even the simplest of systems. Switch hardware altogether is meh
