I know using the parchment paper makes cleanup easier, but it really stops things from cooking properly on the bottom in the air fryer. They sell perforated parchment paper which works a little better, but for stuff like a custard I’d recommend a spritz of a neutral oil and just resting the toast directly on the metal for best results. That’s probably why the middle was a bit mushy.

I think a good brioche would be an eggcellant bread choice

I feel like the berry in a jar bit does keep the moisture in the fruit. At my work, we preserve soil samples in glass jar for the same reason. It's more effective and can be reused unlike a plastic bag.

that "get out honey it's ok" was the cutest thing i've ever heard lol

For the berry bit: It's the lack of oxygen exposure that keeps the fruit looking good. Oxidation speeds up the ripening/over-ripening/ browning process.

I have been a fan of this recipe for a while and I have found just using the egg yolk tasted even better! 🥰

As Emmy applies the custard I was thinking to myself "That looks like French toast". A second later Emmy says "It's kind of like French toast."

I'm not to keen on Warm or cooked fruit. I think I'd cook the custard toast and then add chilled fruit🙂

Storing grapes in jars works great for prolonging freshness. Pull grapes off stems, wash with vinegar and water solution, and allow to dry before placing in jar. I have had grapes last up to 3 weeks and remain as they were when I first put them in the jar. I do the same with bedder and American. Geese that I have grated. Stays fresh so much longer!!

I used a ‘wonderbread’ type of bread, as it seemed to be the only bread that would mush down to make a well in the center, which did work when I tried the recipe this morning. I made it vegan: I used a Greek almond milk yogurt, strawberry jam, a little maple syrup, and Just Egg (vegan pourable egg substitute), and vanilla/pinch of salt. It was really good❤️ the bread didn’t absorb the custard, and the bottom of the bread turned crisp and toasted.

I saw that strawberry trick too, and I've found that wrapping up the carton of strawberries in a plastic grocery bag and tying it off works just as well 🥰 So useful!

I tried this last weekend. I used honey vanilla Greek yogurt and my mixture was thicker (I think I used more yogurt). I drizzled the honey on top. My kids LOVED it. Easy breakfast or dessert!

Emmy Have you ever made creamed honey? There are some videos on Youtube I grew up calling it churned or whipped honey It is silky smooth and keeps your honey from crystalizing

I wonder if you had the bread directly on the rack instead of on parchment that it might get crispier on the bottom? I bet it would be amazing with brioche!

You saying vanilla would be good was good validation for me. I was surprised this recipe didn't have vanilla in the custard
