Brad Panovich weather VLOG 12/21/22: Get ready for the Arctic blast. Get ready now, you still have about 36 hours to prepare your home for the blast of Arctic air and frigid weather that will freeze the Charlotte area over Christmas weekend.
In this video, WCNC Charlotte chief meteorologist Brad Panovich will detail the Christmas weekend forecast for North Carolina and South Carolina. We're expecting 4 to 5 days of frigid temperatures before things warm back up next weekend to start 2023. Brad Panovich will break down how cold it will get in Charlotte and give a detailed forecast for any wintry weather in the North Carolina mountains.
A winter weather advisory is in effect through Thursday afternoon for Ashe, Avery, Burke, Caldwell and Watauga counties. These areas, including Blowing Rock, Boone, Lenoir and Morganton, could see a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain, plus snow by the end of the week. This wintry weather could lead to patchy black ice in the North Carolina mountains while the Charlotte metro area deals with dangerously cold air and wind chill values that make it feel like it's below 10 degrees outside.
