Here in After Effects we have our media that we want to reflect onto a floor. So import a texture that you can use for a floor and precompose it.
Go into the composition and make it a 3D layer. Go to rotation and set x rotation to 90 degrees.
Then lower the position of the floor to the bottom of your project. You can also use the motion tile effect to expand your floor layer.
Back in your main composition turn off the floor. Then duplicate the graphics you want to reflect on your floor. Be sure to go to layer – transform – flip vertical.
Then position your graphics underneath the original graphics.
Lastly, create an adjustment layer and place it between your media. Then add the Compound blur effect. Set the blur layer to your floor and increase the maximum blur.
And that’s how to do floor reflections in After Effects.
