I've never had an idle actuator fail 136k. I have had an ionic actuator/vanos line/steering rack/SMG pump/front susp bushings/coil packs/3 oil coolers/windshield washer pump/hood struts/trunk strut/left side horn/outside left rearview mirror glass/rr soft close actuator/one left rear brake light bulb/drivers side thigh support actuator/drivers side inside active seat actuator/problem with sunroof not closing at speed. No rod bearings issues because, I get in start it and drive off, this allows the engine/tranny/diff to all warm up at the same time. I never rev it until the oil temp is at the 200+. And I at least twice a week I drive it like it was meant to be driven.. 2008 LCI, legendary.

Great advice, Wish my friend would’ve seen this before he got his m5…. Went into limp mode 3 hours after he got it and bmw wanted 15k to fix it, he got rid of it and is now in a 22’ 330i but the E60 M5 is one the of best bmws I’ve ever heard or seen

you can rebuild the throttle actuators for £50 the pair, new gears are available

Basically, you'll need to spend about 40% of the current market value of an M5 to make it slightly reliable. They are amazing cars, they really are one of the best drivers cars money can buy... However, they are so tempting to pick up due to their low price (under 20k) However, parts and repair costs still cost that for a vehicle that cost $80k+ back in the day, very complicated and if you don't have any issues with the engine (hopefully) there will be plenty of electrical gremlins to keep you sweating. Great cars.

Oil analysis wont show you if your bearings are going. Only way to confirm is to open up and check and replace

Oil analysts requires multiple oil changes to analyse the difference in various changes to see if wear has taken place, by then you could of spun a bearing. If there’s no history of the rod bearings being replaced just do them.

Injector failure is also biggest killer and missing from this video completely, throttle actuator failure although expensive isn’t going to lead to catastrophic engine failure like a failed open injector will.
