This footage is impeccable.

This video is like a time machine. I'm born in 84 in Portugal, became of fan of rally naturally through the stuff that was being shown on local TV back in the day. I was over 14 at the time, and learned a little bit about Group B.

Fun fact, lots of the crazy stuff around not being safe comes from footage around the time where the fans hogged the sides of the road and made it obviously not safe.

Almost 40 years have passed, and you still can't find so many good cars and drivers in any rally in the world like we had in Monte Carlo 86. Henri Toivonen will always be the great rally hero 🙏

Thanks a lot for posting this incredible video. You feel the ambiance, the smoke, the noise, everything. I was very fortunate to assist this 1986 Monte Carlo rallye as a spectator. I recognize the Burzet stage : it was a walk of nearly 2 hours on foot in the mountain to reach the road and there was an incredible amount of fans & spectators, totally crazy at that time. But it was so :)

A golden era indeed, I watched these cars flying past us in
Keilder, hamsterley forest with brake discs glowing bright red, big flames coming from the exhausts, as a young lad these cars are still etched into my memory to this day. Beautiful cars, fantastic drivers. Absolutely wonderful

Nearly 40 years ago and it is still absolutely Never will ever forget these times for so many reasons.. Days before wall to wall internet and mobile bloody phones. We all seemed to get on pretty well. Proper lights on rally cars. And of course Mr Toivonen and Group B. Incredible. Thank you for sharing this .

Ça fait quelque chose de voir Henry Toivonen et Sergio Cresto à côté de leur voiture à l'assistance. J'ai eu la chance de voir ce rallye cette année-là à 14 ans, c'était incroyable 😍

C'était une autre époque avec des voitures surpuissantes qui pouvaient atteindre les 500 cv voir les 600 cv et les spectateurs qui pouvaient approcher pour admirer les pilotes et les voitures flirtait en repoussant les limites de leur capacités et hélas certains sont morts pour leurs passions nous les oublirons jamais.

RIP Henry Toivonen et Sergio Cresto .
