There are many reasons I love and will always love the Met. Every time I go I feel like I travel around the world and time in one day. Such a joy to the human soul.

MANY years ago, in graduate school, I took a course on the history of musical instruments with Emmanuel Winternitz, who was then the curator of the collection. I remember feeling so privileged to go "behind the scenes": sit in the classroom, get up close to the collection, talk with the masters who did maintenance and repair. This video really brought back great memories!
