Meet Mirna: Donor Technician at East County Donor Center

Meet Mirna: While studying to become a nurse, she works full time as a donor technician at the East County Donor Center. This El Cajon resident can translate for Arabic-speaking blood donors, and she enjoys cooking and reminding donors that one blood donation can save three lives. According to her colleagues, Mirna makes a mean coconut cake.

“Blood donation is important because every day there are surgeries. And they don’t need one unit of blood for surgeries—they need three to five or sometimes more.”
