Woodturning a Rusty, Beaded bowl using new tool!

Показать описание
This was my first attempt at using a Robert Sorby bead forming tool.

I had been wanting to create a textured finish to resemble a 'rusty brick', so I combined my first go with the tool and a mixture of finishes to achieve the finish product - one that I am extremely happy with!

Thank you for watching!

It is a beautiful bowl Dave. It is a joy to watch your videos, you are unafraid to experiment things.

What a wonderful idea. Love the rust effect. I've a few ideas of my own on colouring wood. I've used chalk paint to colour some carbide gouge handles that I made.

Hi very nice shape to the bowl sorry to say i am not a fan of putting culour on wood but saying that it has turned out very nice
the beading tool can be made out of an old gouge just grind the back of it at 45 D angle and you have the beading tool
cheers Ian

I really enjoyed this Dave, thank you. I'm colourblind but I can see how close you got to the rusty stove and the process and explanation were fascinating. Colouring wood is not something I have ever done but you are getting me very interested in it indeed. What was the point you were going to make about slippage please? I'm assuming you didn't get any here so didn't get a chance to show a remedy.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
PS I really missed you lot at UKIWS this year and was sorry I didn't decide to endure the airport horrors. Maybe I'll drive over next year?
