The Maldives sure has changed a lot since we visited in 1992. All we knew before we arrived was what we read in an outdated lonely planet guide, so we did have a bit of culture shock on our arrival. Tourists were not encouraged in Male at that time, and the resort we stayed at was far away and extremely basic. One of our best travel experiences ever, including some scary and very funny moments. Thanks for this lovely video of your Maldives experience - it truly is a beautiful place.

I went to the Maldives in 2021 and it was the best trip of my life. I stayed in an island resort and couldn’t explore the local islands cause of Covid, but the Maldivian people are the nicest and friendliest I’ve ever met

I'm glad you saw the other islands because most people just go there to stay at the luxury villas and probably don't realise what's going on in the rest of the country. Like many other places (Dubai etc) I feel like locals and foreign workers would be exploited and god knows what's happening to the environment

I loved Maldives being as a local tourist. I explored unexplored, that's how I feel about my trip. At first I was really anxious but I don't regret it at all. The only downside was, I went in August so I didn't get much of a sunlight 😅 but sunshine was perfect!
