As a car that had some of the coolest tactile knobs, buttons, dials, etc, this is a massive downgrade from what has made a mini a mini. What a bummer.

I owned three Mini’s still own 2 of them and I never had one issue mechanically with them. All I hear is mechanical failure and I’ve never changed anything other than oil, brakes and tires 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ still have a 2015 convertible and a 2013 paceman all4 turbo S and that thing is a beast in the snow in western Canada….

“The interior is very minimal and futuristic” The fact that this interior is the most fateful modern rendition of the original 1959 Mini interior to date and this is how it’s viewed speaks volumes of how goofy our society is today. The reason why the original mini had such a simple interior with one instrument in the center was so it could be very cheap and functional. Today people see the same thing and are like: so hip modern and fancy” Crap like this drives me nuts.

If the 0-60 on 5.4sec is correct that means it 1sec slower than the last gen which caranddriver got to 0-60 in 4.4sec

The cup holders still don't have the spring-loaded tabs to keep the item from wobbling around. I can't see the "Mini" in the badges because they are black and fade into the background. Wheels look good. Interiors has some interest, but the cloth parts aren't as easy to dust/clean as you might want.

I’ve been in the market for a Countryman, I have a Paceman now but I think I may pass on the 2025 Countryman and go with a 22-24. I love the Countryman even if they are a little bigger but this one is almost too big for my liking. I don’t have kids and usually it’s just me and my partner in the car so the large size really wouldn’t benefit us. But other than that it is so cute and such a great new look and feel.
I can see how they’re slowing beginning the transition to the teased EV Mini Aceman which I hope we can see in the near future

I personally find the interior also more useful than the x1 - you can see there are more little stoarge spaces which are easier to access

Be interested to hear what you thought of the driver's seat and driving position?
I didn't feel I could lift the steering wheel high enough and the head restraint can't not be adjusted and pushed my head forward when the back of yhe seat was more upright.
I'm only 5ft 10in. (180cm) tall.

We have a '17 Countryman. It's primarily my wife's car but I enjoy ripping around in it when I can. While bigger than I'd like it is super versatile for a family with HS kids and sports. Not sure I like the extra big of the 2024 but need to see it up close. Like the interior, concerned about ghosting on the OLED. Do the rear seats still side and recline?

I never thought I would say this, but I really like this version of the mini. The interior is outstanding. I wish they would do an off road version similar to crosstrek. Overall, very impressive

Great review, MC JCW not so great. The interior looks cheapened, tablet/glass cockpits have no appeal to me. VW did the same thing with the Mk 8 Golf GTI interior and sales have slid.

A good review but you should have also lifted up the boot floor as loads more room underneath it.
