The Queen held her own in reading this poem. Job well done. Thank you all for such a lovely reading

Lovely. The rhythm of the poem is the rhythm of a train moving across the landscape.

I adore this. Great poem read by Queen Camilla..with a slice of Joanna's Touch. I Love Scotland..I live & worked in Scotland for almost 10 years. As A Writer I had the privilege Of Meeting Nicola Sturgeon at The
Edinburgh Scottish Parliament Chambers @ The 100th Year International Women's Convention Celebration March 2010
I was a contributor along with other women..supported By Glasgow Women's Aid Bell St...
* A Way With Word's * Book.
It was such a pleasure to meet & work along side Nicola Sturgeon Whom I Met At The Glasgow Women's Library. Thankyou Scotland !

Thank you for giving this poem and poetry (so neglected now) such an intelligent and enjoyable outing online. More please!

This is a lovely interlude making me appreciate the Queen and Auden together. A lovely and convivial reading. Do hope they'll continue. Bravo all.

The film is in fact a very famous documentary from the GPO film unit, 1936, with involvenent of John Grierson, father of British documentary film. Full version on YouTube, well worth watching. Music, as in an earlier comment, was by Bamenjamin Britten.

The music for the documentary film was composed by Benjamim Britten.

Good, but not quite quick enough. The timing is 'clackety-clack, clackety-clack' as per Sir John Betjeman. How Auden would have written it today with the seamless welded track is anyone's guess.

Such clarity of voice which is seldom seem with the younger generations these days

To be recited I a tempo that mimics the sound of the fast pace of a steam train travelling over the tracks.

Beautiful house with a copper bath was discovered near to this area, the woman advised us that the Fosse septic was completely blocked up, we were charged 2, 500 euros to have the tank emptied! The woman whom sold us the house told us she had the septic tank completely drained one year prior which turned out to be false!

Beautifully performed, might have been nice to have a Scottish performer included.

Such a lovely distraction from all those food banks, the millions waiting for NHS treatment, the millions deciding between food or heat, the sewage being pumped into our rivers and sea, more poetry please!

What a dreadful recital. Totally loses the rhythm of a speeding train
